ABSTRACT
The breaking characteristic of rocks is expressed for individual excavation technologies, and, with regard to differences of individual processes, there is no universal criterion of such breaking evaluation. A demand of an information’s quality and quantity increase in a sense of the breaking characteristic with surface mining, led to a consideration of using drilling process monitoring results that could be applied easily on given terms. However, it means the expression of a correlation between breaking when drilling = drillability, and between breaking when drilling with a rotary excavator = digging resistences. On the basis of operational measurements, the problems analysis was performed and possibilities of a solution were outlined.
