ABSTRACT

Landslides represent one of the most serious destructive geological phenomena. They have costly direct and indirect consequences on affected areas, moreover in certain cases they are related with loss of human lives. Nowadays, this problem becomes more acute due to the increase of man’s intervention on the natural environment, the expansion of settlements, the construction of roads, pipelines and large technical works. To identify landslide-prone areas it is essential to have an express method for evaluation of slope stability with the minimum of available information. The program of soil and rock slopes stability evaluation was developed. This program allows the evaluation of the stability of selected slope and also the determination of unknown parameters values for the limit stability conditions of the slope. The evaluation process consists of the achievement by the calculation algorithm the combination of determined and unknown parameters that determine limit stability condition for given slope.
