ABSTRACT

The paper deals with the application of a Knowledge Engineering technique as a means to develop a decision support informational system for dam’s behaviour diagnostics and prediction related with its design, erection and operation. The methodology and practical results may be used for assisting the dams administration, monitoring and technical diagnostics. A computational information system has been developed, which enables the inferring of knowledge embedded in form of links in the relational database. Flexible interface is WEB oriented and is built on base of HTML language in form of ASP pages. The system permits the access to the decision support mechanisms practically from any PC through Internet. The system manages alphanumeric and graphical information. It permits to store and search the symptoms of malfunctioning for various types of dams (concrete, earthfill, rockfill and combined) as well as for their components: dam’s body, foundation, spillway, reservoir, etc.
