ABSTRACT

A theoretical model of acoustic emission in rocks subjected to cyclic loading have been developed. The dependences of AE activity versus stress obtained as results of the modeling in successive loading cycles are influenced both by internal (rock properties) and external (loading conditions) input parameters. The simulation results are in good agreement with experiment despite not taking some real factors into account (e.g. spatial crack structure, rock granularity). Further development of the model should make it possible to introduce additional influence factors as well as other cracking mechanisms.
