ABSTRACT
A cursory perusal of scientific papers dealing with genetic engineering research and production might leave the impression that only a limited number of prestigious institutions are active. However, if news items as well are screened for information, it becomes evident that a regular “Who’s Who” coterie of the pharmaceutical and chemical industries is engaged in this area. An example is a listing of 30 participants on page 70 of the January 1982 issue of Bio Science.
