ABSTRACT

This chapter proposes that the introduction of increased broadband services, particularly in regional and remote areas, can support new therapies for young people with psychosis. Because of the serious and debilitating results of mental illness for young people, the reach and accessibility of the Internet and the proven interest of young people in communication technologies, an approach that uses high-speed broadband Internet to support sufferers of mental illness demands consideration. In this chapter we examine possibilities for a web-based system for preventing relapse in patients who have suffered a first episode of psychosis (FEP).
