ABSTRACT

There has been much fanfare about the “greening” of global business, a more acute awareness of the natural environment's fragility and the urgent need for its protection. Despite this heightened consciousness about the dangers of environmental degradation, some multinational corporations have not always been sufficiently assiduous in their handling of environmental issues. They have been remiss in assuming their stewardship obligations, and they have failed to invest the necessary funds in order to protect environmental integrity. While improvements have been made, there is an extensive history of irresponsibility, negligence, and a lack of adequate concern for the welfare of future generations.
