The superconvergence of finite element methods on domains with reentrant corners

There have been many studies concerned with superconvergence of finite element methods since the 1970’s. This paper surveys the developments in treating the corner singularities of elliptic problems. We focus on the mesh constructions to recover the accuracy of finite element approximations and further to obtain the superconvergence of gradient and asymptotic error expansions.
