ABSTRACT
Directional residuals were introduced in Chapter 5 as an alternative way of enhancing the fault isolation utility of a residual set. In a directional set, the response to each particular (single) fault is confined to a straight line in the space of residuals. This directional property is valid at all times, including the course of any transient in response to fault changes.
