ABSTRACT

We arrive at the yard at 9 a.m. on Friday mornings for our two-up scheduled run to Kununurra, in the north of Western Australia, 3300 km from Perth. First we check out the dock to see what freezer/chiller freight we have and work out how many pallet spaces we will need in the freezer section of the trailer. Dry goods are loaded in the middle section. Then we put bulk heads up and load the chiller goods. We finish loading two trailers at about 2.30 p.m. and one is driven by one of the two drivers to the road train assembly area at West Swan, outside Perth, ready to be picked up for the trip north. The third trailer is loaded by other employees. It is taken through to Carnarvon, in a two-trailer combination. At Carnarvon, at the Shell truck stop, we hook up the third trailer to become a triple-trailer road train.
