ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews work on elementary trigonometry and coordinate geometry. It helps the reader to use circular functions, recognize their graphs and be able to determine their domains, and solve equations involving circular functions. The chapter assists the reader in recognizing the equations of standard geometrical curves and transforming equations involving polar coordinates into those involving cartesian coordinates. It also presents practical problems to solve in surveying and in circuits. Straight lines, circles and other curves can be represented by equations. The chapter shows the use of the methods of coordinate geometry to obtain the equations of several curves.
