ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors consider plane stress problems and use triangular elements with the nodal points at the corners. In the plane stress problems undertaken, it was simple to generate a desired mesh by hand. However, for more complex geometry and for a very fine mesh, this becomes a difficult procedure, and they must then rely on automatic mesh generation via the computer. The authors consider a plane stress problem for which they automatically generate a grid. They discuss and used a computer-generated mesh for triangular elements. There are computer-generated mesh programs for other more complex elements but these programs are difficult.
