ABSTRACT
As the UK Rail Industry moves towards operating a 24/7 railway the time taken out to complete maintenance and project works is at a premium. It is therefore essential that any waste or delays incurred whilst taking possession of the line are eliminated, thus maximising the time for the engineering activity to be completed or releasing time for the safe operation of trains. However, maintaining protection for the safety of the workforce remains paramount.
