ABSTRACT
On 24 August 1913 the Kaiser handed his brother-in-law, King Constantine, hero of the Balkan Wars, the baton of a German Field Marshal (Feldmareschal), and Constantine announced that the victories of the Greek Army were due to his and his staff officers’ German military training. Metaxas was promoted Lieutenant Colonel on 26 September, his second promotion during the Balkan Wars.
