ABSTRACT
In the case of point features, remote sensing surveys may be carried out as aids to topographic mapping. If repeated later, air photography or Earth resources satellite imagery may be analysed to reveal rural change, perhaps for interpretation in economic terms. In this respect a relevant question may be this: is there evidence of changing rural wealth, e.g . through increasing dereliction of homes and out-houses, or through new or improved rural structures?
