Type A Behavior in Children: Demographic, Behavioral, and Physiological Correlates

The Type A behavior pattern has been suggested as an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease (Rosenman et al., 1975). Type A behavior is

characterized by a heightened sense of time urgency, competitive achievement striving, and increased hostility (Friedman & Rosenman, 1960). Its counterpart, called Type B behavior, is marked by the absence of these characteristics.
