Changes in Children'S Social Lives and the Development of Social Understanding

This chapter explores the impact of the birth of a sibling on social understanding in a first-born child during the second and third year of life. It examines the mechanisms and changes in childrens’ social lives that affect social cognitive development. Finally it discusses implications for long-term development of early life events such as the birth of a sibling.
