ABSTRACT

This chapter turns to the ethnographic examination of the shooting of a kikaku movie titled ‘Shiranai’s [the pseudonym of a Japanese director] Lecture on Portio [an inner part of a woman’s uterus]’. 1 As the title suggests, the movie is not a story but a lecture which revolves around the director-cum-actor, Shiranai, 2 who appears as a sexologist, teaching his audience how to bring about infinite female ecstasy through a demonstration of his unique sexual skill in stimulating the uterus of the female character. 3 This specific kikaku movie serves as a good example to demonstrate how a kikaku AV is actually made. We have argued in Chapter 4 that the gist of kikaku AVs is to authenticate the story and female character by contextualizing the sex scene firmly within a story. In this chapter, we shall explore how the sex scene of this kikaku movie is contextualized through the specific portrayal of the director-cum-actor as a sexologist who possesses unique skills in bringing about infinite female orgasm; and the portrayal of the whole shooting process as ‘real’ where female orgasm is depicted as predictable and controllable.
