ABSTRACT

In this chapter you will:

Apply the saturated model to tables with more than two dimensions and review what it means to say that a model is hierarchical.

Learn how to define a base model, letting either procedures or concepts separate explanatory from response factors.

Learn various ways to define a hierarchical series in order to search for the simplest, best fitting model.

Learn how to use both the usual chi-square goodness-of-fit statistic and standardized residuals to evaluate whether a model fits the data adequately.
