ABSTRACT
In this chapter. we explore one of the major reasons we began this research. to determine how marriages affect the development of emotion regulation in children. We explore the effects of marriages on children. our ability to predict the longitudinal course of marriages from dysfunctional marital interaction. and whether there are any variables that can serve as buffers for children from the harmful and powerful effects of both dysfunctional marital conflict and marital dissolution.
