ABSTRACT
Many things that we once believed to be true have been shown to be incorrect. Much of this enlightenment has been achieved through scientific research, which is superior to subjective opinion in one important respect: It relies on empirical data that can be verified and reproduced. One noted example involves the discoveries of Copernicus and Galileo, which disproved the prevailing egocentric belief that the earth is located at the center of our universe.
