Journal Article/ Inside/outside Circles Preservice teachers have previously read the article, Sipe, Lawrence. R. (2001) Picturebooks as Aesthetic Objects. Literacy Teaching and Learning, 6(1), 23-42. Have students take a few notes on the sections titled Physical characteristics, elements of design, elements and characteristics of illustrations. Have preservice teachers form a circle of 5 or 6 people. Then have them face the outside and have 5or 6 preservice teachers partner up with someone from the circle. You should have an inner circle and an outer circle. Give the students a time frame and question or topic from reading to discuss. When time is up the inner circle rotates to the left, so they are left with a new partner to discuss another point from the article. Continue with this process until complete with discussion of article.
