ABSTRACT
I am a fifth generation Chinese American. As a TESOL professional of color looking back on all five generations, I see recurring issues that have emerged in both my family background and my experience in TESOL. My life in TESOL has reflected some of the same themes that emerged from my family's 150 year history in the United States.
