ABSTRACT
The hypothesis that the right hem isphere is im portant in early language com pre hension is consistent with recent results observed in infants with focal brain injury (see Bates et al., this issue; Thai et al., 1991). In those studies, 10-to 17-month-old infants with right-hemisphere dam age were significantly more likely to exhibit delays in word com prehension than were children with dam age to the left hem i sphere.
