ABSTRACT

Hooks (in Preskill & Jacobvitz, 2001) referred to burnout as a “concomitant risk for those who aspire to create excitement in their classrooms” (p. 174). Burnout can happen subtly and too easily to caring teachers. Don’t wait until you need a remedy to seek solutions. Establish a healthy balance of work and play to stay vital. Have a life outside the classroom, and don’t become all-consumed with your job. Share your challenges and concerns with colleagues when needed and tend to your well-being. See Take Time to … for tips on keeping healthy in body, mind, and soul.
