ABSTRACT

All good therapists try to empower patients so that they are able to handle their life situations by themselves. Even so, the concept of self-therapy is not popular in the field of psychotherapy. Nevertheless, though new in psychotherapy, it is old in the business world. Here, authors like Dale Carnegie (1944), Norman Vincent Peale (1974), David Schwartz (1959), W. Clement Stone (1962), to mention just a few of the best known, have been teaching self-therapy without using this description for several decades. Their books, very popular in the corporate and general culture, have done much good for many.
