Of the many elements that go into the construction of a psychotherapy group under the auspices of managed care, three are deserving of special attention: leadership issues, the establishment of group goals, and how the eventual composition of the group is determined. Each variable is critical to the outcome of the group experience and as such is worthy of a detailed discussion from both a theoretical and a practical vantage point.
