Assumptions About Treatment of Depression

The various theories, diagnoses, and understandings of depression seem very incomplete and in some cases incompatible. Correlational studies show relationships between depressive symptoms and other personal attributes for groups of people, but do little to provide information regarding the specific causes and consequences for depression with any one individual. Further, the more one considers the spectrum of research and its implications the more one becomes aware of the complexity inherent in understanding the matter.
