The Husband Who Was to Mind the House

A woman may not have given her man the satisfaction of hearing the words, "You're right," but by her actions she made it clear that she believed him. Her habitual response to her man's accusation/threat has been to adapt and accommodate. She marched to his drum, whether it was moving from farm to city, cooking rice instead of potatoes, or watching football games. Husbands have rewarded or punished with money, like the man who, when he discovered his wife had had sex with someone else, took credit cards out of her wallet and cut them to pieces. As long as the paycheck was ensconced in the man's pocket, he held the trump card. His wife had no choice.
