Around the World

The world is not a fl at collection of nation-states or territorial sovereignties in equal status. Countries diff er in size, manpower, resource, development, and overall income and output, such as gross domestic product, gross national product, and net national income. Larger, advanced, or generally more powerful nations can hold a variety of advantages over smaller, yetto-be-developed, or by and large weaker countries in trade, diplomatic relation, geopolitical dealing, military interface, border-to-border transaction, and people-to-people interaction.
