ABSTRACT

In this chapter, and in the next, we discuss multidimensional scaling models. This chapter covers models used in many multidimensional scaling analyses, the unweighted (simple) distance models. The next chapter covers more complex models, the weighted distance models. Generally, the unweighted distance models are just called distance models, and we refer to them as such. However, we titled this chapter unweighted distance models to emphasize the difference between these models and the weighted models discussed in the next chapter.
