ABSTRACT

The differences in success among many counselors lies in counselors’ abilities to use a few specific skills. These skills are the natural legacy of the great therapists who have preceded us in our field. By “natural,” I mean that even to those who lead the way for us, these skills have been brought up and delivered from an unconscious level. Paradoxically, these skills also are learned and refined, for as anyone in this field knows, the best therapists are also the most studied and experienced.
