ABSTRACT
The radio boomed in my ear, “Shooting at 24th and Broadway; person down; possible gang fight.” I hit the switch, and the red lights and siren pierced the quiet night. 1 threaded my way rapidly through traffic thinking, “This is the fourth gang-related shooting this weekend.” Two victims had been innocent by standers; all had been kids.
