Statistics from the U.S. Bureau of the Census (1992) indicated that the multicultural makeup of the county will be quite different in the year 2050 than it is today. Between 1992 and 2050, the African-American population will grow from 32 million (12% of the population) to 62 million (16%); the Hispanic population, from 24 million (9%) to 81 million (21 %); the American Indian, Eskimo, and Aleut population, from 2.2 million (0.8%) to 4.6 million (1.2%); the Asian and Pacific Islander population, from 9 million (3%) to 41 million (11 %); while the non-Hispanic White population will grow much more slowlyfrom 191 million (75%) to 202 million (52%).
