ABSTRACT

The nature of the environmental impact that energy generating technologies create is generally dependent on the specific technology used that includes concerns over water resource or pollutant emissions or waste generation or public health and safety concerns or all of these. Coal-fired power generation is not free from these impacts and has been associated with a number of environmental challenges, primarily associated with emissions. The environmental concerns become even more significant with coal being used in larger amounts than ever before. Coal has demonstrated the ability to face such challenges in the past and hopefully it will effectively meet future environmental challenges.
