ABSTRACT

The earth does not merely subside beneath the hammering of civilizations, it fascinates and converts the structures of experience, it murmurs below and within the demotic of everyday life, speaking not only through our farms and our bestiaries, but through all the surfaces we have pinned down, all the technologies implicating its elemental support, all the materialities that bind the life-world to a particular order of things.
