ABSTRACT

FouRIER's educational ideas, as well as his political schemes, are based on a psychological theory. His originality as a socialist, and his importance as an educationalist, derive from his being interested not only in realizing abstract principles of justice, but in understanding human nature. He starts from an investigation of the nature of man, he analyses man's inclinations, capacities and needs, and from this he proceeds to deduce a social order that will fully employ all his capacities and satisfy all his needs.1
