ABSTRACT

Management time, to any organization, is costly. Where functions of a managerial capacity have to be performed, and existing personnel do not have the technical and professional knowledge, experience, expertise and possibly time to undertake a specific project, consultancy provides a flexible solution. Equally, consultants may be used to train staff in those skills that are currently unavailable. As consultants, generally, are expensive because of their expertise, even if they do work on a contingency basis, schools need to be careful in choosing the right person or organization for a particular job.
