ABSTRACT

Rorschach’s ideas about the color responses (in short, CR) are less original than his conception of the human-movement responses. Nevertheless, the CR are very significant because they pertain to emotions as these are commonly differentiated from thoughts and actions. Moreover, the CR occupy a high place in the logical hierarchy of Rorschach’s ideas and he drew many specific conclusions from the different numerical values of the ΣC:M ratio (cf. p. 128). The larger the number of CR, absolutely and relatively when compared with the number of M, the stronger is the subject’s extraversion, according to Rorschach’s terminology and definition. A person without any CR is emotionally flat or unresponsive to the stimulation emanating from others. In fact, a record without any CR points definitely to psychopathology and an unhealthy degree of emotional indifference. The greater the number of CR, the more easily does the individual respond to emotional stimulation. The CR, then, introduce us to another significant area of interhuman relationships.
