ABSTRACT
The disagreements about the definitions of the terms that enter into the sizedistance invariance hypothesis (SDIH) are much more important than those over the descriptions of the moon illusion. The moon illusion is a single phenomenon but the SDIH is supposed to be a universal law of visual space perception. At the least, the SDIH is considered to be a relatively accurate guide to the relationship between perceived size and perceived distance.
