ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: We took Changshu as an example to investigate individuals’ risk perception towards 25 daily risks, and preliminarily analyzed the relationship between perceptive approaches of risk and level of risk perception. Findings showed that: 1) differences in demographic characteristics have no impact on risk perception; 2) perceptive approaches such as self-experience, hearing from others, news/newspapers, and unknown risks showed strong correlations with strength of risk perception, while literary and audiovisual works did not; and 3) the more closely the approach was related with the respondent, the stronger the risk is perceived.
