Tourism, hospitality and event organizations: the human resources context
Introduction and chapter overview This chapter continues the internal analysis of organizations in examining one of the functional areas that organizations are often divided into – the human context. The subsequent chapters will examine the other functional areas, namely finance (Chapter 5) and marketing (Chapter 6)
Human resources are one of the key resource inputs to any organizational process. THE sectors are often said to be labour intensive (as opposed to capital intensive) in their orientation which places an even greater reliance on the management of human resources. A thorough analysis of this resource is an important part of strategic analysis and this chapter explains the resource audit – one of the most widely used tools for this purpose.
