ABSTRACT
The causes of sexual abuse appear to be complex and the theories and beliefs about the child molester and incest offender are contradictory and confusing. In defining the cause of this behavior, the primary goals are to achieve clarity and ascribe responsibility for behavioral change. Only then will an etiological framework be useful in predicting recidivism and providing directions for treatment.
