ABSTRACT

The preceding chapters show that a wealth of information is available on the world’s groundwater. Compiling this information would have been impossible without the enormous and continuous efforts of many generations of dedicated individuals around the world, with support of the agencies they belong to, who have been participating in exploring, observing, assessing, monitoring and analysing groundwater and aquifer systems in many parts of the world, who have been processing and storing the collected data, who have been studying ground water, its use and its management, and who have written reports and papers on it and who have shared all this information with the international community.
