ABSTRACT
Pressure is defined as the amount of force being applied per unit of area. Thus, if the force is measured in dynes and the area in cm2, then pressure is measured in dynes/cm2 . Our interest in pressure arises because sound waves are detected only when the air pressure wave impinges the ear drum causing it to move and create a series of events in the inner ear (see Sections 111.1 and 2).
