ABSTRACT
A real-world problem solver must be an adaptive reasoner, capable of appropriately changing its behavior to fit a dynamic situation. As the situation changes, it must be able to respond appropriately by interrupting what it is doing, activating new goals, and focusing its attention appropriately. Schema-based reasoning is one solution to the problem of creating an adaptive reasoner.
