ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a chronological treatment of how my thinking about pigeon working memory has evolved over the past 25 years. The discussion is selective in at least two senses. First, it is selective in that the issue of primary interest is whether pigeons actively postperceptually process, or rehearse, information during the retention interval in working memory tasks. Second, the treatment is selective in that research and theory development in which I was an active participant is emphasized.
