ABSTRACT

Animal cognition research has focused on efforts to demonstrate and explain the active processing of information by animals. The goal often has been to look for tasks that were used to assess human cognitive behavior and to ask if analogs of these tasks can be developed to assess the cognitive behavior of animals (see e.g., Honig & Fetterman, 1992; Hulse, Fowler, & Honig, 1978; Roitblat, Bever, & Terrace, 1984; Zentall, 1993).
