ABSTRACT

The areas presented here appear to be rather fertile soil for the emergence of edge city complexes since they are on metropolitan peripheries and seem well situated with respect to access to transportation linkages. At first glance each appears ideal for distributional activity. Indeed such activities do exist in both, but their functions are somewhat more extensive. Both areas were classified as social services edge cities in Chapter 2, based upon the cluster analysis of employment figures (see Figure 9.1).
