ABSTRACT

The World Conference on AIDS Prevention Programmes organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in London from 26 to 28 January 1988, brought together health ministers and experts from 152 countries (Criado, 1988). The fact that this conference took place shows how concerned WHO and governments around the world are with the spread of AIDS, and the importance attached to preventive measures. The Fourth International Conference on AIDS, held in Stockholm in June 1988 in the presence of 7000 health experts, confirmed these concerns.
